Travel & Stay

Welcome to Oulu, a vibrant city with plenty of things to see and experience!

Oulu is Northern Finland's largest and oldest city, located in the Gulf of Bothnia in the Oulujoki River delta. Oulu was founded by King Charles IX of Sweden in 1605. Before Air Guitar World Championships the city was known for tar, salmon and technology.

Today, the city is home to more than 200 000 locals, and a favourite destination for thousands of domestic and international travellers who come to enjoy the city's urban beat and clean nature.

Oulu is easily accessible by bus, train and plane even from afar. Oulu Airport is the second busiest in Finland and several of flights arrive here on a daily basis. There are regular bus connections between the airport and Oulu city center. Timetables can be found here. Please notice that you can pay only with cash at the bus. There is an ATM at the airport. Taxis are on call at the taxi stand in front of the airport during the scheduled arrival times.

Moving around in the city is easy by foot, rental bicycle or local bus. Routes and timetable for the buses can be found here.
